If you read my post over on the Queen Bee Coupons site this morning, welcome to our new family travel blog Take That Exit – it’s all about leaving the fast lane, so we can enjoy the view.
I’m glad you’re here. The Queen Bee website and my love for sharing my frugal living tips isn’t going anywhere. This site, Take That Exit, is just a more personal peek into our lives, following our dreams of travel and exploring with our kids. You better believe I’ll be trying to do it frugally as possible – that’s in my blood and my nature! 🙂
It’s the money-saving tips that I’ve been practicing all these years, the ones I share over on the Queen Bee Coupons site, that have allowed us the financial freedom to be debt-free on this upcoming journey. It’s the countless coupons we’ve clipped, the sales we’ve shopping, the stockpile we’ve kept, the manager markdowns we picked up, the times we did without – it wasn’t for nothing and every small savings added up.
If you want to get all the background on this journey, here are some good posts to read:
- Why we decided to travel full-time
- How we afford full-time travel
- What about the kid’s school?
- Our monthly budget on the road {tentative}
- Our maiden voyage to Grayland Beach State Park
Here are some ways you can follow us via TakeThatExit.com:
- SUBSCRIBE to the Take That Exit email newsletter – Probably the best way to get updates, since Facebook isn’t so great about sharing updates of your favorite pages these days. The email updates only go out when we have a new post – which likely won’t be more than once a day or 3-5 days a week.
I’m glad you’re here. And I hope you’ll come along with me (virtually) for this adventure!

We did this away back in 1983 when our girls were in grade five and grade three. We used ABEKA program from Pensacola Christian College to homeschool. We visited every state capital where we travelled. You should really try to visit New England, especially Maine. Loved reading all your blogs thus far. Travel safely and enjoy…. A lifetime of memories.

Do you plan to buy another house and settle in one place after your year of travel?

This is very cool! I would be very interested in how you pack the airstream, you’re tips for storage in small spaces. .what you and the family couldn’t live without. Thanks for sharing!

Our family is in the process of downsizing to take a USA road trip. As you mentioned on your blog, getting rid of stuff is a lot more difficult than buying stuff. I am struggling to keep or get rid of items I know we’ll need after our adventure ends. Did you sell everything (beds, sofa, dressers, etc.) even though you plan to plant roots again in a year?
I look forward to reading and learning about your USA road trip journey. Wishing your family safe and fun travels.
